Tip #1:
Are you looking for winter boots that are no fuss, and easy to pull on so you can race out the door quickly? Or do you need something that is customizable with laces which can be tightened to provide additional ankle and instep support and stability. Where needed, lace-up boots can offer a snug fit that conforms to your foot shape. The boot closure system is an important consideration when determining which boot is best for you and your feet.

Tip #2:
The best sole type for you will depend on what you’ll be doing, where you’ll be going and on what surface you’ll be wearing your winter boots. A leather sole is polished and offers a sleek profile, but is more delicate than other options. If it’s slightly more protection you require, then you can opt for a leather sole with an added rubber plate to provide extra grip on wet, slippery surfaces. And if it’s greater durability you want, you can look to a boot with a tread. Surprisingly, a chunkier, rubber sole can still be incredibly lightweight.

Tip #3:
This is where true personal preference and wardrobe-related decision-making comes in. Is it a short bootie you want, or a standard ankle boot? Is it mid-calf or knee length? It helps to imagine what is in your closet and what will work best when styling your clothes. Ankle boots are easily paired with jeans and leggings as well as flowing maxi dress or long skirts. Long boots are also versatile and can have the added benefit of elongating your legs. Where once long boots were thought to be mostly for elegant and formal occasions, there are now plenty more casual options available with chunky profiles that look great with jeans or cargo pants for a slightly less polished feel.

Bonus Tip:
Heel height: If your plan is to race around the city all day on your feet, it may well be worth considering a flat or 2cm heel. However if it's a height boost you're after then a 5 or 7cm light may do the trick. But even higher heels (ours at least!) can still feel extra supportive and comfortable when crafted as a block or micro-foam wedge heel to give you that extra lift.
